Malibu Board Racing

Board racing is an exciting surf sport that involves paddling out through the surf and around a series of buoys beyond the surf line. Depending on the surf conditions, the lead in a board race can change numerous times, which also makes it a great spectator sport. Board makes an ideal complimentary sport for swimmers as the same muscle groups are used. Board also forms one of the three legs of the ironman and ironwoman races. Other races that involve board include: board rescue, taplin relay, ironman and board relay.

Waimairi has been developing its board paddling ranks over the past 3-4 years. We now have a strong contingent of paddlers who train hard and perform well in competitions.
